The Ties You Raise

Now give the ties the love and care they’ve earned:
a life of people, the ones you raised, the friends you kept,
and yes, the circle narrows, the chairs go empty,
the phone rings less, and the quiet house grows loud.

But tend to them, and the ties answer still:
a call comes back, a new table fills again,
as old bonds fall, raise new ones, stronger, with use.
