The Ping You Obey
You feel it before you hear it. Your hand goes to your pocket.
A bell rings somewhere, and your heart answers first.
The screen tells you nothing important. You check anyway.
You were doing something. You stopped.
You can’t remember what you came here to do.
Your day has no thread — only interruptions.
You answer at dinner. You answer in bed.
You answer in your sleep. The bell still rings there.
A bell that rings without your asking does not serve you.
You are not the one being called. You are the one being trained.
